The idea is to promote and reflect on the Yorkshire Coasts unique heritage and history and to show an insight into the coastal lifestyle to those guests staying at Scarborough hotels or those who are visiting the area for the day and are left eager to return.

The new brand for Scarborough, Whitby and Filey grew out of the various stories that local people have told, so ‘It’s a Coast Thing…’ is a real and valued opinion on the Yorkshire Coast.

Gabrielle Jandzio who is a communications officer at Scarborough Council said: ““The It’s A Coast Thing…”:/news/detail/its-a-coast-thing/ brand encapsulates everything that is great about living and working by the North Yorkshire Coast.’

The North Yorkshire Coast offers unrivalled views and historic seaside towns that are steeped in history and heritage but at the same time have all the facilities and attractions that the modern day holidaymaker expects.

In recent years areas such as Scarborough have seen a rise in the amount of people wishing to live at the coast and also the amount of people visiting the area for a holiday by the sea.

‘It’s a Coast Thing…’ is designed to help spread the word of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey’s proud heritage whilst at the same time promoting why local people and visitors to the area think the coast is a truly unique place.

It is intended that local events and local attractions will be promoted through ‘It’s a Coast Thing…’ and that incorporating such a brand will add value to promotional literature that is displayed in both Tourist Information Centres and Scarborough hotels.

It is also hoped that arts and culture events in the future will be proud to be associated with the ‘It’s a Coast Thing…’ brand and this will in turn continue to build the image of the borough and increase visitors to the area.
