Bricks and Mortar – A Building Forum
01st May 2009
Our Talbot Hotel in Malton will this month be hosting a one day forum on repair and conservation of historic buildings.
The forum, to be held on Thursday 21 May, will discuss the tensions that exist between structural engineers, the requirements of modern building regulations and the conservation of old buildings.
The course, at our Talbot Hotel, is being organised by Malton landowner Fitzwilliam Estates and will include a series of practical training courses on the repair and conservation of historic buildings.
Nigel Copsey, of the Earth Stone And Lime Company and who is the course organiser, said:
“We must find ways to build bridges between the needs of old buildings and the requirements of modern regulations.”
Gez Pegram, of specialist conservation engineers Alan Wood And Partners, will be present at the one day forum in Malton. Gez will explain and discuss why and when old buildings need structural engineers.
The course at The Talbot Hotel on Yorkersgate in Malton costs £55 for the day and pre booking is essential.
