Added value for guests staying at Malton Hotels
26th Mar 2009
In an article published by the Gazette and Herald, Malton and Ryedale’s £150 million a year tourism industry has been encouraged to give tourists visiting the area more value for money due to the credit crunch.
Ena Dent, who is chairman of the Tourism Association North Yorkshire, spoke at its annual meeting held at Eden Camp, near Malton and said:
“Those coming to Ryedale and North Yorkshire will certainly get good value. We have so much to offer tourists in Malton and Ryedale but we need to spread the word.”
Ena also urged tourism operators and Malton hotel owners to offer added value to their guests in order for people visiting North Yorkshire and Ryedale to have a good time and encourage tourists to return to the area in the future.
The association is working closely with the Yorkshire Tourist Board and the Moors and Coast Area Tourism Partnership (ATP) as many other businesses benefit from tourism including trades people, hairdressers and food shops.
Guests staying at our Malton hotels have so much on their doorstep in terms of quality attractions including, Castle Howard, Eden Camp, Malton Museum, The North Yorkshire Moors, where our Hackness Grange Country House Hotel is located, Flamingo Land, York and the coastal resort of Scarborough.
People who visit Malton return home after having a wonderful time and as this is the case a new campaign ‘We Love Malton – The Heart of Rydale’ has been set up. The campaign is designed to reconnect residents, traders and business organisations and to help promote services and local attractions to the rest of Yorkshire and beyond.
Denys Townsend, who is the chairman of Malton and Norton Business in Action, has stated that practical help will be given to retailers, cafés, hotels and restaurants.
The first promotional campaign under the new ‘We Love Malton – The Heart of Rydale’ was Malton’s Mum’s The Word, a Mother’s Day competition run throughout the town that was a great success.
Jenni Cropper, spokeswoman for the Fitzwilliam Estate who are playing a vital role in the campaign, said:
“Later, there will be other programmes including, town-based events for Easter and a brand new Food and Drink Festival at the end of May. It will also include a revamped motor show, a game food fair and a revitalised Dickens Festival.”
The whole idea of the ‘We love Malton’ campaign is to reinstate the town as a top visitor destination and be thriving with shops and entertainment. This is all encouraged and supported by the local Fitzwilliam Estate.
This initiative is very positive and exciting and there already seems to be a buzz around Malton’s famous Market Square, where our Green Man Family Inn is located, so why not discover the heart of Ryedale for yourself and enjoy a short break at one of our Malton hotels.
