Roadshow for drivers is parking up at The Talbot Hotel

20th Mar 2009

The Talbot Hotel in Malton is hosting a free roadshow for “older drivers” this Saturday.

The roadshow, organised by North Yorkshire County Council’s 95 Alive Road Safety group and The Scarborough and District Group of Advanced Motorists, has been designed for people to drop in and find out more information on driving-related issues.

On Saturday, between 10am and 4pm, this unique road safety event will run various presentations about advanced driving. Also at 10.15am and 2pm there will be presentations about modern motoring and how it relates to the older driver.

Our Talbot Hotel will play host to representatives from the police, fire service, North Yorkshire County Council and the Institute of Advanced Motorists (AIM).

Susan Gallagher, who is the county council’s road safety officer for Ryedale, said:

“Motorists will be able to seek advice as there will be an opportunity to have your eyes tested, check out your reflexes on a brake reaction module, learn about ‘eco-driving’ and get good advice for anyone concerned about when they are in the car on their own.”

Throughout the day at our Malton hotel, members of the advanced driving group will also be offering advice and taking bookings for free assessment runs.

Although the event at the Talbot Hotel is aimed primarily at the ‘older driver,’ other drivers are more than welcome to come to the roadshow.
